Senior Simulation Engineer

Build and run simulation systems that model real-world AI workflows and produce concrete, evaluable outputs. This is an execution-focused engineering role for someone who ships working simulations, not designs abstractions.

Role Overview

The Senior Simulation Engineer will be responsible for implementing runnable simulations used to evaluate complex, multi-step AI systems in high-stakes domains.

This role is hands-on and execution-driven. You will take defined requirements and turn them into working simulation runs that emit real outputs (e.g., CSV/JSON artifacts, logs, evaluation files). Success is measured by whether the simulation runs reliably, produces usable artifacts, and can be executed by others without hand-holding.

You will work closely with the founder and data scientists, but you are expected to independently own implementation and delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Build end-to-end simulation runs for multi-step AI or agent workflows
  • Implement deterministic simulation harnesses that take defined inputs and produce concrete outputs
  • Model document flows, system state, and decision steps within simulations
  • Generate structured artifacts from simulations (e.g., CSV/JSON outputs)
  • Ensure simulations are reproducible, inspectable, and debuggable
  • Add lightweight logging or instrumentation to support evaluation and triage
  • Document how to run simulations so others can execute and inspect results

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of professional engineering experience (backend, systems, or platform engineering)
  • Strong Python skills and experience building execution-heavy systems
  • Experience with workflow engines, pipelines, simulations, or test harnesses
  • Comfort working with structured data outputs (CSV, JSON, Parquet)
  • Strong debugging instincts and ability to reason through multi-step execution
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-moving, founder-led environment

Preferred Skills

  • Experience building simulation or testing frameworks
  • Background in evaluation, QA, or validation systems
  • Experience modeling stateful systems or time-based workflows
  • Exposure to regulated or high-stakes domains (finance, healthcare, audit)
  • Familiarity with multi-step AI or agent workflows (helpful, not required)
